Bicentennial exhibition at the Brukenthal Palace
The Brukenthal Museum turns 200 this year! On this occasion, 3 cultural goods of great value for the history of Sibiu are presented in an exceptional exhibition. Since 1974 they have been in the patrimony of the National History Museum of Romania in Bucharest.
We’re talking about the sealing ring of Baron Samuel von Brukenthal (gold with enamel and niello, jasp, dating back to the second half of the 18th century), the hat ornament of Albert Huet’s grave (gold with enamel, garnets and pearls, dating from 1577-1607), remounted at the end of the sec. XIX on a velvet belt, and the Altemberger Codices.
The latter is also the main attraction of the exhibition being a collection of legal texts drafted in the German space in the XIV-XV centuries. The volume is written in Gothic characters on parchment, it is richly ornamented with miniatures and has frames with true genre scenes made with gold leaf and natural colours.
The exhibition can be visited from daily from 10:00.
Music and ballet
This Sunday, October 29th, at 19:00, the International Ballet Gala takes place on the stage of the “Radu Stanca” Theatre. As always, this epic ballet gala closes the International Stars and Ballet Competition Sibiu, an event organised annually by the Sibiu Ballet Theatre Company. You’ll get to see perform both part of the competitors participating in the competition, as well as the artists of the Ballet Theatre Sibiu, alongside renowned dancers from Romania and abroad.
