Sibiu is also called the heart of the country, because it is situated in the middle of Romania. As a fortress, Sibiu proved to be invincible and became the capital of Transylvania during the period in which the region was a Habsburg principality and over time it was also a commercial, educational and cultural center.
Sibiu is a great city which recorded many premieres in this part of Europe like the first hospital, the first school, also the first pharmacy, the first theater building, the first museum, the first beer factory or the first zoo garden.
