There is a traditional Romanian evening dedicated to gastronomy. And it’s going to be cheesy! You can taste fresh buffalo cheese, goat’s milk cheese, cow’s milk cheese, sheep’s cheese, mountain cheese and kneaded cheese. And don’t miss the hot peppers jam! It’s hot…literally.

The main course is kind of wow, also – veal chops with baked rhubarb, black currant salad, mashed potatoes and pickles. All this must be completed with a dessert, and here you will not fail with the cake of the house. Let’s not forget about the drinks that fall well in pleasant moments. Blues for your soul in Atrium

For incurable romantics there is Atrium. This Saturday, you can’t miss the rhythms of quality blues. Hanno Hofer, Raul Kusak and Liviu Pop, in a word BluesCore, will bring us a select repertoire composed mostly of classical blues and soul pieces with slight incursions into other musical styles.  You have to see what an extraordinary drummer, an exceptional guitarist and vocalist, are able to do when joining the special sound of the Hammond Organ mastered by Raul Kusak. The price of a ticket is 40 lei, and you can make online reservations for this magical event, with a 10% discount being added to your bill.

Electric Adventure in Liquid the club

Run to the children’s theatre

If you want to end the week in dance steps, then the best place is Thalia Hall. Saturday, November 25th, at 19:00, the contemporary dance performance “Peer Gynt” takes place.  Choreography and direction belong to Aleisha Gardner, and the show takes place with the participation of actress Emoke Boldizsar. It’s one of the last shows of Sibiu’s Ballet Company for this year, and it’s announced to be magical, as ever.

Several ethnicities, the same festival

November 5th to 12th Sibiu welcomes again the Hungarian culture – the “Ars HUNGARICA” Festival. The organisers say that it is the event that presents and represents Hungarian heritage, traditions and culture in a multicultural way, by opening up to other ethnicities.

Tickets for the festival can be purchased from the HID Association – Sibiu Cultural Center (2, Berăriei Street, 2nd floor) until November 3rd at the price of 40 lei / person and 30 lei for students and retirees. For those under 18, the entrance is free of charge. The ticket guarantees entry and reservation of all venues in theatres. In the case of night concerts, the voucher provides the entrance, and reservations are made at the following telephone numbers: 0723.287486 – Atrium and 0752.195942 – Music Pub.

How to eat good and like a real gypsy

November 2nd to 5th, the “Gypsy Gastronomic Feast” takes place in the heart of Sibiu. The event is at its first edition and is organised by the International Romani Union – IRU Association in collaboration with the Sibiu City Hall. The festival allows us to find out as many fascinating things about the colourful cuisine of the Roma people. Tasting at the event is free. The organisers announce that during the whole period of the festival, 27 parking spaces in the Small Square will be restricted for the good management of this event.

One-man show at Gong

On Sunday, November 5th, at the “Gong” Theatre for Children and Youth, the “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” choreographic theatre performance comes to the stage once again, after it has been staged for the first time at this year’s edition of the “George Enescu” International Festival.  

It starts at 19:00 and it is Lari Georgescu’s one-man show based on W.A. Mozart’s music and Gigi Căciuleanu’s lyrics, as well as upon a fragment of the original “Dell’arte” comedy script belonging to Mozart. We are talking about a bold and unprecedented approach, an insight into the world of Mozart’s genius. The show lasts for one hour and ten minutes and is recommended for young people over the age of 12. Public access is based on tickets. The price of a ticket is 9 lei, a single tariff, for tickets purchased at the theatre or at Humanitas bookstores. For tickets purchased online and in the Eventim network, a 10% commission is charged.

“Baiadera” – ballet and a nineteenth century story

Monday, November 6, at the “Radu Stanca” Theater, at 19:00, we invite you to “Baiadera”, a classic ballet act that has premiered last month in Sibiu

The story of this show begins on February 4th 1877 at the Imperial Grand Theatre in St. Petersburg when its world premiere took place. It is a typical creation of that period that brings to the fore in India the conflicts of romantic ballet in which love, jealousy, intrigue, crime and revenge combine. After the show we can talk about ballet at the superlative.

Tickets can be purchased from the point of sale located in Piaţa Mare, within the Tourist Information Center, Sibiu City Hall, entrance F or online, at the same prices as at the point of sale, without any additional commission on kompostor.ro and bilet.ro.

Tickets can also be reserved for forty-eight hours online on the official TBS website or by phone 0269 229 627. But bare in mind that online and phone bookings, which are not confirmed by payment within forty-eight hours, are invalidated.

All about the guitar

“The story of the guitar” is a music and theatre show that takes place at the Thalia Hall on Wednesday, November 8th at 19:00. We are talking about two hours of tribute to the guitar and to all the artists who have played this awesome instrument. At the same time, at 19:00 at Thalia Hall, there is also a chamber recital by soloists Cristian Florea (cello) and Mihai Ungureanu (piano), who will perform the Brahms Sonatas.

Marius Mihalache is back at Atrium

Looking for a cool concert? Friday, 3 November 3rd, at 21:00, you can watch Marius Mihalache and his band in action, at Atrium. They’re going to take us back in time to the 1920’s and 40’s, the time of lively swing, frenzied dance and the stylish wear. The organisers say it’s a moody and improvised story on the band’s accords. An impossible proposal to refuse. Sibiu Music Fest finds itself at its first edition. And you shouldn’t miss it, because this Saturday, 9^th of September, the stage will be filled with some of the most loved Romanian artists : Delia, Connect-R, What‘s Up, Alina Eremia, Puya, Vescan Official, Lora, Irina Rimes, Raluka, Maxim, Dorian Popa, ADDA, XOXO Oficial, Rita, ARIAS – and these are just a few!

The good news? The Big Square is filled with terraces on which you can enjoy the concerts while at the same time enjoying great dishes and drinks to match the fun. La Turn, La Taifas, Mustache Caffe or Perla Timi‘s Ice Caffe are just a few of our recommendations. We’re talking about wide terraces, with good visibility towards the stage, and plenty of space for the little ones to consume their energy. Another must-stop for this weekend? The Astra Village Museum, in the Dumbrava Forest. The George Enescu International Festival

Classical music lovers, rejoyce! This weekend, The George Enescu International reaches Sibiu. It is one of the most impressive festivals of this kind. Just think about it: 80 events and over 3.000 guests from Romania and abroad, during 23 days of festival. The first events took place on September 2nd in Bucharest. For Sibiu, 5 recitals have been announced. The first one, bearing the „Enescu” name, will take place at the Lutheran Cathedral in the Huet Square. The L’Arpeggiata Ensemble & the countertenor Philippe Jaroussky will take the stage for the first time in Sibiu this Sunday, September 10th, at 19:00. They have already increased the number of seats by 20, to match the great demand. Same goes for Maxim Vangerov’s recital, September 22nd, at the Thalia Hall. You can still find available tickets for the rest of the recitals. And we’re talking about the recitals of Quatuor DIOTIMA , Viktoria Vassilenko – piano, and Erzhan Kulibaev – violin.

Craft Fest Sibiu brings us the secrets of beer, the drink that had its recipe first carved în stone more than 5000 years ago! This Saturday and Sunday, the Cetății Street will be home to Craft Fest Sibiu, a festival that aims to promote craft beer brands from Sibiu and the rest of the country. Between 11:00 and 23:00 you’ll get the chance to sample a dozen kinds of beer, straight from their producers. 

The producers will also introduce you to what are the traits of a good beer, how it should be consumed, and with which type of food it can be paired. Good things to know, if you think how much we all love beer. Romanians alone drank 30 billion beers last year!

Oh, and women should definetly take advantage of this festival. The relentless british researchers say that women who consume beer have an increased cognitive activity. In other words, they’re smarter! How’s that for a final argument?
